Senior Backend Engineer (Python) - Full-Stack Mindset

Role overview

Build and evolve backend systems for modern financial applications, with a focus on scalable, reliable services written in Python. You will own technical work from understanding requirements through design, implementation, and deployment, while contributing to architectural decisions and collaborating with an international team. The work also includes end-to-end application development using Databricks, with opportunities to contribute to frontend features as needed.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain production backend applications and services in Python. - Develop integrated application components and services that use Databricks, and create REST APIs and external service integrations. - Take solutions from requirements analysis and architecture through implementation, testing, and deployment. - Develop cloud-based applications, primarily on AWS, and help improve their performance, scalability, and maintainability. - Contribute to frontend work when needed and validate ideas through prototypes. - Use AI-assisted development tools and automation in daily engineering work; take part in planning, code reviews, and technical discussions. - Work with international and cross-functional colleagues to turn business needs into effective technical solutions.

Requirements

- At least six years of commercial Python backend development experience, including production-grade applications. - Senior engineering skills to independently design and deliver complex solutions. - Strong understanding of backend architecture, REST APIs, distributed systems, and software design principles. - Experience with cloud application development, preferably AWS, and with CI/CD and version control. - Knowledge of object-oriented programming, clean code, and maintainable engineering practices. - Advanced written and spoken English, strong problem-solving skills, and readiness to contribute across the application stack. - An interest in AI-assisted development tools and emerging technologies.

Nice to have

Experience with Databricks, Vue.js or other modern JavaScript frameworks, financial services, Docker, Linux, microservices, event-driven systems, or AI agents and coding automation. Prior experience shaping architecture or designing solutions from scratch is also useful.
