About this role
Role overview
Set the technical direction for a data and analytics platform supporting security, insurance, business intelligence, actuarial, and AI/ML use cases. You’ll build governed, dependable data infrastructure and reusable data products, while establishing standards that help multiple teams work with complex data safely and consistently. The role combines hands-on platform architecture with cross-team technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Define architecture and engineering practices across the data warehouse, transformation, orchestration, streaming, and infrastructure-as-code layers. - Design governed data pipelines and domain-focused models that make security and insurance information reliable and discoverable. - Create reusable data products, contracts, feature stores, and semantic models for analytics and operational consumers. - Establish data quality, observability, lineage, access controls, and incident practices for reliable, regulated workflows. - Build platform foundations for feature engineering, embeddings, vector search, and retrieval-augmented applications. - Align technical decisions with engineering, product, underwriting, actuarial, security, and business partners.
Requirements
- Nine to twelve years building and operating production data platforms, including architecture ownership for complex or high-scale systems. - Deep Snowflake and dbt experience, including performance, incremental processing, cost management, testing, and deployment. - Strong Python, analytical SQL, and data modeling skills; experience with dimensional modeling or Data Vault 2.0 is relevant. - Experience delivering batch and streaming pipelines with modern orchestration and ingestion tools. - Track record establishing data products, contracts, ownership, service levels, access controls, lineage, and quality practices across teams. - Technical leadership skills, including influencing architecture, mentoring engineers, explaining tradeoffs, and setting durable standards.
Nice to have
- Experience with insurance data such as claims, underwriting, policies, or loss analysis. - Familiarity with governed Looker and LookML models, AI data systems, or tools for lineage and data quality. - Experience with regulated-data controls, Snowflake infrastructure managed through Terraform, or CI/CD workflows. - Experience using AI-assisted coding tools to improve development, testing, or documentation.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-first work environment. - Listed US base salary range: $157,000–$232,650, depending in part on geographic market and qualifications. - Medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) plan with employer match; flexible PTO; and paid parental leave are described. - Annual home-office support, coworking access, and wellness programs are also listed.
