Backend Engineering Intern

Role overview

Help build and maintain the backend services that power a cloud services platform, including customer account flows, infrastructure provisioning, and billing. This internship offers hands on work in a production codebase, with changes reaching real customers and support from an experienced team.

Responsibilities - Develop and maintain API endpoints for provisioning, billing, and the customer portal. - Design PostgreSQL data models and create database migrations. - Connect the platform to external services such as payment providers, domain registrars, DNS, and email systems. - Write tests and investigate customer reported issues to identify their causes. - Participate in code review and deliver changes through to production.

Requirements - Comfortable writing Python and able to navigate and extend an existing codebase. - Understanding of HTTP and REST, including methods, status codes, and request and response formats. - Basic SQL skills, including joins and an understanding of what database indexes do. - Familiarity with Git and working with branches. - Clear written and verbal communication in English.

Nice to have

Exposure to FastAPI, Django, or Flask; experience deploying a personal project; or an interest in payments, billing, and automation. French is a plus.

Benefits and work setup

Remote internship with flexible hours, typically 20–40 hours per week for 3–6 months. It is unpaid and open to students and early career candidates. The team offers mentorship, production experience, and a written reference.
