Manager, Software Engineering - Developer Experince

Role overview An engineering management role leading a team dedicated to developer productivity inside an AI-native software company. The mission is to remove friction from the software development lifecycle and push the organization toward AI-augmented engineering as the default. The manager partners across engineering, product, and design to set standards, ship internal tooling, and shape how engineers build every day.

Responsibilities - Own CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and AI-powered internal tooling and agents used by engineering. - Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, including running regular coaching on AI fluency and pairing less-fluent engineers with peers. - Define and track metrics for developer productivity, satisfaction, and AI-augmented workflow impact. - Drive adoption of AI coding tools across engineering, remove access and training blockers, and coach engineers on an AI-delegated Builder model. - Establish governance for AI usage, including guidelines for data handling, code review, security, licensing, and quality of AI-generated output. - Collaborate with engineering, product, and design to align developer-experience priorities with broader company goals.

Requirements - 7+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years managing engineering teams. - Strong grasp of developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices. - Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar, including integrating them into team workflows. - Demonstrated AI fluency at an Augmented or higher level, with prompt engineering, context engineering, and token-economics awareness. - Builder mindset: comfortable orchestrating work across humans and AI agents and knowing when to delegate versus apply human judgment. - Track record of identifying engineering inefficiencies and delivering scalable, measurable improvements.
