Remote job
Software Engineer in Test (SDET) (Ingeniero de Software en Pruebas) - Remote First
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A remote-first engineering position focused on building the platform, frameworks, and tooling that power automated quality across a fast-growing product organization. The work sits at the intersection of software engineering and test infrastructure — designing production-grade systems rather than running manual test passes — and is well suited to engineers who treat automation code as a first-class codebase.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain shared web and API automation frameworks (Playwright preferred) with stable selectors, modular architecture, and clear extension points for product teams. - Build backend services and fullstack internal tools that persist test cases, record run results, expose reports, and integrate with delivery workflows such as issue trackers, chat notifications, and CI runners. - Structure automation contracts so that AI agents and CLIs can generate, execute, and capture evidence for test specs reliably. - Implement and harden CI/CD pipelines for smoke and regression suites, reducing flakiness and making failures diagnosable. - Apply software engineering discipline to test code: reviews, helper unit tests, versioning, documentation, and ongoing refactoring. - Partner with QA engineers on adoption and with product engineers on testability, including APIs, data-testid and ARIA hooks, environments, and test data.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software development experience in backend or fullstack roles, with shipped automation or developer-tooling work. - Strong proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript for Playwright or comparable end-to-end frameworks. - Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks across web and API layers, with sound judgment about test pyramid trade-offs. - Backend fundamentals including REST APIs, relational databases, authentication basics, and clean service boundaries. - CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions or similar, plus comfort with Docker and Git-based collaboration. - Demonstrated ability to systematically debug flaky tests, environment issues, and integration failures.
Nice to have
- Prior SDET, SET, or test infrastructure engineer experience. - Mobile automation with Appium or BrowserStack. - Workflow orchestration tools, issue tracker or source control API integrations, and AI or agent tooling for test generation. - Cloud and observability basics for running automation reliably in shared environments. - Domain exposure in fintech, payments, or B2B SaaS. - Experience replacing external test-management tools with internal systems.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-first arrangement with flexible in-person time during ramp-up or when a leader requests it. - Competitive compensation plus an employee stock option program from day one. - Annual learning budget with accelerated development paths. - English-first working environment with regular use of Spanish and Portuguese.
