Job details
About this role
Role overview Build and evolve the software platform that coordinates robots and factory equipment for electronics assembly. The work spans system architecture, computer vision, fleet planning, real-time control interfaces, and tools that help bring new model-driven capabilities safely into production.
Responsibilities - Define how robots, cameras, tools, and jobs are represented, coordinated, and monitored; choose suitable boundaries between Python and Rust. - Integrate vision algorithms into robot control loops to locate components and verify pick-and-place operations reliably. - Develop model-assisted workflows for interpreting component information, assessing images, and diagnosing or recovering from faults, with evaluations before deployment. - Plan routes for multiple mobile units and coordinate them with fixed equipment while avoiding collisions and deadlocks. - Connect high-level planning software to real-time motor controllers. - Build simulation, tracing, and replay capabilities to validate changes and investigate failures.
Requirements - Experience building or architecting substantial robotics software that operates on production hardware. - Strong software engineering skills in Python and Rust, or C++ with willingness to work in Rust; familiarity with types, testing, concurrency, and clear architecture. - Experience in one or more areas such as motion planning, multi-robot coordination, controls, perception, or scheduling. - Hands-on use of large language or vision-language models in robotics, or a strong interest in applying them. - Ability to take responsibility for code developed with coding agents. - Willingness to visit factory sites in the US and UK.
Benefits and work setup The listing gives a pay range of £80,000–£125,000 in the UK or $125,000–$250,000 in the US, depending on experience, plus equity. The role involves seeing the software operate at factory sites.
