About this role
Role overview A hands-on technical leadership role guiding a multidisciplinary data team supporting a long-term, end-to-end engagement with a US-based organization in the education technology sector. The position focuses on shaping data architecture from ingestion through modeling, governance, and serving, while serving as the team's primary technical reference point rather than a traditional people manager. Work is delivered in a nearshore model with substantial overlap with US Central business hours.
Responsibilities - Provide day-to-day technical direction to database specialists and developers designing, building, and maintaining data products and pipelines. - Define and evolve the target architecture across ingestion, lakehouse, modeling, governance, and serving, with attention to security, performance, and cost. - Translate business and technical requirements into workable solutions, selecting appropriate frameworks, patterns, and modeling approaches. - Engage directly with stakeholder architects and business leaders to present options, trade-offs, and document decisions for shared alignment. - Set and enforce standards for data quality, access control, lineage, and privacy in environments handling regulated or sensitive information. - Embed CI/CD and DataOps practices to keep delivery consistent and reliable, and build proofs of concept to validate architectural choices.
Requirements - Advanced English (C1 or above) for daily engagement with North American stakeholders. - Proven experience leading multidisciplinary data teams from a technical, hands-on standpoint. - Background building data pipelines, lakehouse architectures, and production-grade data products at scale. - Practical experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog) or comparable depth on AWS data services. - Strong dimensional (Kimball) and relational data modeling skills with advanced SQL. - Experience with orchestration tools such as dbt, Databricks Workflows, or Apache Airflow, plus the ability to work nearshore with US Central hours.
Nice to have - Databricks certification, Snowflake or similar warehouse exposure, governance in regulated industries, CI/CD and MLOps practice, familiarity with AI and agentic coding workflows, consultative assessment experience, and Spanish or Portuguese language skills.
Benefits and work setup - Health and dental insurance, meal/food allowance, childcare assistance, and extended paternity leave. - Profit-sharing participation, life insurance, and a continuous learning platform. - Wellness partnerships, discount club, mental and physical well-being resources, and language learning support. - Remote-first delivery with strong US Central hours overlap.
