About this role
Role overview A remote Senior Data Engineer role based in Brazil, reporting to an Engineering Manager. The position focuses on designing and operating the data systems that power analytics, decision-making, and AI across a two-sided marketplace spanning quoting, booking, trips, operators, customers, and payments. The hire will act as the data engineering subject matter expert, leading a near-term warehouse migration from Redshift to Snowflake while shaping long-term platform strategy.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines, models, and data products that support analytics, operational decision-making, and downstream AI use cases. - Own data architecture and modeling across key business domains, integrating transactional, application, and third-party sources into trusted, reusable datasets. - Ensure data quality, lineage, reliability, and performance through automated testing, observability tooling, and clear SLAs for production pipelines. - Lead the migration from Redshift to Snowflake and continue evolving the data platform (warehouse, infrastructure, transformation frameworks, dev workflows), applying AI-assisted engineering where appropriate. - Set engineering practices and standards for data across the organization, partnering closely with engineering, product, analytics, and business stakeholders to translate operational needs into scalable end-to-end solutions.
Requirements - 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a closely related role designing and operating production data systems. - Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and transformations using dbt or comparable frameworks. - Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of data solutions, including architecture, modeling, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and documentation. - Hands-on experience with dimensional modeling, data quality and lineage practices, and orchestration using Airflow, Prefect, or similar tools. - Depth in at least one modern cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks, combined with strong technical judgment and clear English communication across technical and business audiences.
Nice to have - Prior experience leading a data platform or warehouse migration.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first work model with the role fully remote in Brazil; international benefits align with local standards. - Time-off policy designed for recharge, with country-specific paid leave and holidays. - Equipment provided to set up a productive home workspace. - A fast-moving, collaborative team culture with referral incentives for bringing in strong candidates.
