Founding Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)

Role overview

Serve as the primary technical bridge between strategic enterprise customers and the core engineering team. This founding seat blends deep customer-facing work with hands-on coding, helping define the forward deployed function, its culture, and its hiring bar from day one.

Responsibilities

- Build rapid proofs of concept and implement complex integrations for customers in regulated and large-scale environments. - Commit production-grade Go code to the core platform when customer needs overlap with product development. - Lead technical discussions with enterprise customers and translate their requirements into actionable engineering input. - Act as an early warning system by surfacing customer needs, blockers, and patterns before they escalate. - Help shape the FDE team's culture, processes, and recruiting playbook as a founding member. - Partner closely with the core engineering team to ensure customer feedback visibly influences the roadmap.

Requirements

- Five or more years as a Senior or Staff Engineer or Architect, with proven success leading technical conversations at large enterprises. - Demonstrated hands-on coding ability, ideally in Go or a comparable backend language. - Track record of rapidly building POCs and graduating customer integrations into production. - Strong written communication skills suitable for an async-first remote team. - Experience working with highly regulated industries such as finance, government, or Fortune 500 organizations. - Extreme ownership mentality with a bias for action, adaptability, and a customer-first mindset.

- Background in DevSecOps, software supply chain tooling, or security-focused engineering.
