Founding Design Engineer

Role overview Own the quality bar of a platform that helps enterprises gather, secure, and contextualize their software development lifecycle data for security and compliance workflows. This founding role defines what "great" looks like across the product's UI and encodes that judgment into the design system, frontend abstractions, and standards that engineers and AI coding agents build with every day. The position blends hands-on feature building with high-leverage standards work, turning every review finding into reusable components, guidelines, or agent instructions.

Responsibilities - Design and implement frontend features end to end, partnering with product to shape customer-facing flows - Own the design system and frontend architecture, deciding when a pattern becomes a component and when an abstraction needs rework - Drive AI coding agents to produce excellent frontend output through guidelines, reusable skills, and review loops - Conduct and elevate design and code reviews so that feedback compounds into lasting quality improvements - Champion accessibility, responsiveness, and perceived performance across the product - Maintain coherent abstractions as the codebase grows, working directly with product, design, and engineering leadership

Requirements - 7+ years across frontend engineering and UI craft - Deep, hands-on fluency with React, TypeScript, and modern CSS, with a track record of building polished products end to end - An opinionated point of view on what good UI and UX look like, including accessibility, responsiveness, and perceived performance - Proven experience owning a design system or frontend architecture in a growing codebase - Fluency driving AI coding agents, with strong opinions on how to make them produce excellent frontend code - Professional English fluency and excellent async writing, with the ability to explain design issues in ways engineers and agents can act on
