Founding Design Engineer

Role overview Set and raise the standard for the frontend product experience in a foundational, hands-on engineering role. You will build customer-facing features while shaping the design system, frontend architecture, and guidance that help engineers and AI coding agents produce consistent, polished interfaces. The work spans product collaboration, UI craft, accessibility, and the practical systems that keep a growing frontend coherent.

Responsibilities - Design and implement frontend features end to end in partnership with product and design. - Define and maintain frontend patterns, reusable components, and architectural conventions. - Review interface work for usability, accessibility, responsive behavior, and perceived performance. - Turn recurring review feedback into reusable components, guidelines, workflows, or instructions for AI coding agents. - Help shape features from discovery through delivery, focusing on the overall customer experience. - Communicate design and implementation feedback clearly in reviews and async writing.

Requirements - At least seven years of frontend engineering and UI craft experience. - Strong hands-on fluency with React, TypeScript, and modern CSS. - Track record of building polished products end to end. - Experience owning a design system or frontend architecture and keeping patterns coherent as a codebase grows. - Strong judgment in accessibility, responsive design, and perceived performance, with the ability to explain actionable improvements. - Fluency with AI coding agents and experience guiding them through reusable standards, review loops, or abstractions.
