Founding Core Software Engineer

Role overview Shape the backend foundations of a platform that helps organizations collect, secure, and make sense of software development lifecycle data. As an early engineering hire, you will design and build resilient services while influencing technical direction and team culture. The work spans the full delivery lifecycle, from early design choices through production operations, in an async-first environment that may require occasional schedule flexibility.

Responsibilities - Architect, build, and scale backend services, primarily using Go. - Take ambiguous projects from technical proposal and design through implementation, testing, and production monitoring. - Make systems reliable and maintainable, and improve engineering practices through automation. - Apply sound judgment to API design and cloud-native system decisions. - Collaborate closely with a small team, share feedback constructively, and help build a healthy engineering culture. - Contribute to product direction as a foundational member of the engineering team.

Requirements - Ten or more years designing, building, and maintaining complex backend systems. - Strong hands-on Go experience, or deep expertise in another backend language and a clear desire to learn Go. - Solid understanding of cloud-native tools and practices, including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry. - Strong REST API design skills; familiarity with distributed systems and production operations. - Analytical problem-solving skills, ownership from design through operations, and comfort working in an early-stage environment. - Interest in software security, DevSecOps, secure-by-design practices, or software supply chains.

Nice to have - Experience at an early-stage product company or contributing to open-source projects. - Background or interest in data pipelines, search, large-dataset insights, AI features, vector databases, or retrieval-augmented generation. - gRPC experience.
