Short-Form Content Creator (TikTok / Douyin – China-Based)

Role overview

Create high-volume, performance-focused short-form video for TikTok and Douyin while working from China. The role centers on authentic, mobile-first content rather than polished studio production: you will develop ideas, film independently, adapt formats to platform behavior, and collaborate with an English-speaking marketing team to improve engagement and retention.

Responsibilities

- Produce native short-form videos designed for TikTok and Douyin, primarily using a phone-based setup. - Build compelling hooks in the opening one to three seconds and test multiple creative angles quickly. - Create talking-head, POV, product demonstration, problem-solution, trend, remix, testimonial, and review formats. - Adapt concepts, pacing, presentation, and storytelling to current Douyin audience behavior and trends. - Coordinate clearly with global stakeholders in both Chinese and English on creative direction and execution. - Monitor and report performance indicators such as views, engagement, and watch time, using results to guide iteration.

Requirements

- Based in China, with the role potentially structured as remote or hybrid depending on location. - Fluent in written and spoken Chinese and English. - Demonstrated experience creating short-form content for TikTok, Douyin, or both. - Portfolio required, including live examples of published work and evidence of meaningful engagement. - Strong understanding of platform-native storytelling, trend participation, hook development, and audience retention. - Able to film independently, execute at speed, and perform basic editing with CapCut, native platform tools, or similar software.

Nice to have

- Experience creating content for e-commerce or direct-to-consumer brands. - Familiarity with TikTok Shop or Douyin e-commerce. - Experience adapting creative for international audiences and understanding the difference between organic and paid performance content.
