Job details
About this role
Role overview A senior software engineering role on the Harness team of an AI platform that runs and serves large language models. The team builds the scaffolding, or "harness," that turns raw models into systems capable of long-horizon, cost-conscious autonomy, running on inference infrastructure the company controls end-to-end.
Responsibilities - Architect planner/executor/evaluator pipelines that use separate models for reasoning, fast execution, and evaluation, with no self-verification loops. - Manage agent memory and context, including state persistence across sessions, context compaction, and offloading of tool calls. - Own the harness surface, including the terminal UI, MCP integrations, and telemetry. - Work directly with users and internal colleagues to identify, understand, and fix pain points in AI workflows. - Own features end-to-end from design and implementation through testing and production rollout, typically shipping in 1–4 weeks.
Requirements - Production experience with Go or TypeScript is strongly preferred; candidates without either should show strong systems programming skills in a comparable language. - Strong debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning skills, including query profiling, index design, and database performance tuning beyond ORM usage. - Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Kubernetes is a strong plus. - Familiarity with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, plus modern CI/CD and DevOps practices. - Startup mindset: adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working through ambiguity. - Strong written and spoken English, with a record of personally driving a complex project end-to-end.
Nice to have - Hands-on experience building AI harnesses or custom AI workflows and agent systems.
Benefits and work setup - Competitive gross salary of €6,500–€9,000 depending on experience. - Remote-first work environment with a globally distributed team. - Equity options and 10% of work time allocated to personal projects or self-improvement. - Learning budget for conferences and courses, an annual hackathon, team-building budget, equipment budget, and additional days off to support work-life balance.
