Senior Software Engineer | Kimchi (API Platform Team)

Role overview A senior software engineering role on the API Platform team of an AI platform that runs and serves large language models. The team owns the public inference API, billing, usage metering, role-based access controls, and the data and observability layer behind them, with end-to-end ownership from design through production rollout.

Responsibilities - Build and operate the inference API and its supporting datastores, distributed systems, and CI/CD pipelines, keeping them reliable as traffic scales from individual developers to large enterprises. - Design billing, usage metering, and role-based controls, treating numerical correctness as a trust-critical concern. - Develop with observability as a first-class concern: use query profiling, flame graphs, and similar tools to track down p99 latency regressions rather than relaxing alerts. - Own features end-to-end across the stack, from design and implementation through testing and production rollout, typically shipping in 1–4 weeks. - Work directly with product and adjacent engineering teams to solve problems without off-the-shelf answers.

Requirements - Production experience with Go or TypeScript is strongly preferred; candidates without either should show strong systems programming skills in a comparable language. - Strong debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning skills, including query profiling, index design, and database performance tuning beyond ORM usage. - Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Kubernetes is a strong plus. - Familiarity with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, along with modern CI/CD and DevOps practices. - Startup mindset: adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working through ambiguity. - Strong written and spoken English, and a track record of personally driving a complex project end-to-end.
