Role overview

A senior product designer is needed to join a small senior design team working on an AI-driven coding platform that serves engineering and platform teams making real infrastructure and budget decisions. The role covers end-to-end ownership across a CLI coding agent, a desktop application, an inference and spend console, and developer tooling such as IDE extensions. The category is moving quickly, so the work suits someone comfortable forming and defending a point of view under ambiguity, and willing to dogfood the product hands-on rather than only hand off specs.

Responsibilities

- Own problems end-to-end across the product surface — CLI, desktop app, inference and spend console, or developer tooling — from research through shipped design and measured outcome. - Lead user research initiatives independently: plan them, run them, synthesize findings, and turn them into a clear case for what the product should do next. - Prototype directly in code using AI-assisted workflows when that is faster than static mockups, to test ideas in the actual product. - Bring a strategic point of view to product conversations, grounded in research evidence, direct product usage, and competitor awareness. - Participate in cross-squad design reviews to surface overlap early, raise the quality bar, and stay aware of what other designers are building. - Track design debt in owned areas and push for prioritization when risk factors or user feedback make it urgent.

Requirements

- Portfolio or case study showing senior-level design work on developer tools, AI or LLM products, coding agents, or other technical, data-heavy SaaS platforms. - Track record of owning research end-to-end — not just contributing to studies run by someone else — and using it to influence product direction. - Comfort working directly with AI-assisted development workflows, and genuine interest in staying hands-on with the codebase rather than only handing off specs. - Demonstrated ability to operate with a strong point of view under ambiguity and make a defensible call without leaning on a fixed process. - Experience designing for technical, engineering-savvy users and holding your own in conversations about APIs, architecture, and system constraints. - Strong async communication: short, clear documents that make a case in writing as convincingly as in a meeting.

Nice to have

- Experience designing CLI or terminal-based interfaces. - Familiarity with desktop application design. - Experience presenting design and research findings directly to executive stakeholders.
