Role overview Provide functional expertise in designing, configuring, and optimizing SAP Transportation Management solutions as part of a high-performance consulting team serving complex, mission-critical supply chain environments. The role gathers business requirements, delivers high-quality functional designs, partners across architecture, development, and project management, and supports clients through testing, deployment, and steady-state operations. Consultants work independently on deliverables while mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities - Gather and analyze transportation management requirements and translate them into clear functional specifications. - Configure and customize SAP TM capabilities including transportation planning, freight order management, carrier selection, tendering, and optimization. - Perform functional testing, resolve defects, and validate end-to-end TM functionality, and develop user guides, configuration documentation, and training materials. - Collaborate with project managers, architects, developers, and functional teams to ensure seamless integration with ECC, S/4HANA, and related modules. - Support issue resolution, data migration, interface troubleshooting, and identification of process improvement opportunities within transportation and logistics operations. - Mentor associate-level team members, share knowledge, stay current on SAP TM enhancements, and travel up to 50% for workshops, testing, implementation, and go-live activities.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, or a related field, or equivalent experience. - SAP TM certification, or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire. - Two or more years of SAP TM experience for the Level I scope, including at least one full lifecycle implementation. - Hands-on experience configuring SAP TM functionalities such as planning, freight execution, carrier selection, and optimization, plus functional testing and QA support. - US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. - Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with clear communication to non-technical audiences and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Nice to have - Experience working with the Department of Defense or other federal agencies. - Familiarity with ServiceNow and with SAP Activate or ASAP methodologies. - Experience integrating TM with ECC, S/4HANA, or other SAP modules, including data migration, interface development, or system integration activities. - Background supporting continuous improvement or operational excellence initiatives.
