Role overview A remote mid-to-senior role on a desktop applications team, focused on building cross-platform Electron applications for clients across many industries. The work covers full-feature product development as well as packaging, distribution, and ongoing maintenance of shipped desktop apps. It suits a developer who enjoys product-facing work where web technologies meet native deployment concerns.
Responsibilities - Design and build Electron desktop applications using Node.js, TypeScript, and React - Implement native integrations, system APIs, and platform-specific behaviors across Windows, macOS, and Linux - Package and ship applications using Electron Builder and related tooling - Maintain, debug, and update existing desktop products after release - Collaborate with browser-engine and extension teams where products overlap
Requirements - Several years of professional experience building production Electron applications - Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills plus solid React fundamentals - Familiarity with Electron Builder, packaging, code signing, and auto-update flows - Comfort debugging across web and native layers, including main and renderer processes - Understanding of desktop security, sandboxing, and dependency management
Nice to have - Experience with Tauri as an alternative desktop framework - Background shipping desktop apps in regulated contexts such as fintech or healthtech - Familiarity with embedded browser runtimes like CEF or WebView2
