Role overview A remote role on a browser engineering team for a developer working on custom Chromium-based products. The position spans feature development, fork upkeep, and integration work for clients across sectors such as fintech, healthtech, edtech, and crypto. It suits a mid-to-senior engineer comfortable owning meaningful pieces of a Chromium-based stack end to end.
Responsibilities - Implement features and fixes in custom Chromium browser builds using C++ and TypeScript - Maintain forks, port upstream changes, and manage version upgrades - Build and review code that integrates browser engines with product-level UI and APIs - Work with security and QA on hardening, anti-fingerprinting, and regression testing - Collaborate with colleagues on architecture decisions, code review, and engineering best practice
Requirements - Solid professional experience with C++ in a systems or browser-engine context - Working knowledge of Chromium internals and the GN build system - Comfort with depot_tools, TypeScript, and modern Git workflows - Understanding of multi-process architecture, networking, and Blink rendering - Ability to read and contribute across a large, fast-moving upstream codebase
Nice to have - Experience with custom browser builds for security-sensitive or regulated use cases - Familiarity with extension APIs or embedded browser runtimes - Prior open-source contributions to Chromium, Blink, or related projects
