Browser Extension Developer

Role overview A remote mid-level role on an extensions and web team, focused on building and maintaining browser extensions for Chrome and other WebExtensions-compatible browsers. The work spans new product development, store publishing, and security audits for clients across many industries. Responsibilities - Build Chrome and cross-browser extensions using Manifest V3 and TypeScript - Implement content scripts, background workers, popups, options pages, and messaging flows - Prepare extensions for submission to the Chrome Web Store and similar marketplaces - Maintain and update existing extensions for browser API and policy changes - Write automated browser tests using Playwright and related frameworks

Requirements - Solid professional experience building browser extensions for production use - Working knowledge of Manifest V3, the WebExtensions API, and TypeScript - Familiarity with the Chrome Web Store review and publishing process - Comfort with browser-based debugging, content scripts, and extension security - Ability to write end-to-end tests with Playwright or comparable tooling

Nice to have - Experience with Firefox, Edge, Brave, or Safari extension ecosystems - Background in extension security audits or hardening reviews - Familiarity with browser internals or custom browser builds
