About this role
Role overview A senior pre-sales role focused on API Management, helping large North American enterprise customers move from fragmented integration to a unified, governed data ecosystem. The position acts as a principal architect across high-stakes technical engagements, bridging back-end data integration, master data governance, and front-end API consumption. The work is consultative and strategic, with a clear emphasis on translating technical design into measurable business value.
Responsibilities - Lead the design of end-to-end API strategies, covering the full lifecycle from design and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger) through security policy enforcement to retirement. - Partner with C-level stakeholders and enterprise architects to articulate the ROI of an API-first approach, with emphasis on security, scalability, and the productization of data. - Serve as the subject matter expert on enterprise security protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT, ensuring gateway solutions meet stringent corporate compliance standards. - Architect and demonstrate developer portals that enable discovery and consumption of internal and external APIs across the client's ecosystem. - Coordinate cross-functional teams of internal specialists to lead complex Proof of Concepts and deliver authoritative responses to detailed RFI/RFP technical requirements. - Show how API Management intersects with iPaaS and master data management, orchestrating data flows so APIs deliver a trusted, high-integrity enterprise data record.
Requirements - Extensive experience in API lifecycle management and the deployment of high-performance API gateways within complex, distributed environments. - Deep technical proficiency with modern identity providers, security frameworks, and edge-based risk mitigation techniques. - Demonstrated ability to design solutions incorporating microservices, service mesh, and event-driven architectures. - Track record of driving technical alignment in a sales environment, moving beyond feature discussions to solve high-level business challenges. - Strong executive-level communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex architectures to senior leadership. - Background supporting enterprise customers in North America on large-scale digital transformation programs.
Nice to have - Advanced proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP ecosystems and enterprise API suites such as MuleSoft, Apigee, or Kong. - Industry certifications in cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP), information security (CISSP or CCSP), or enterprise frameworks (TOGAF). - Experience with API security and orchestration for AI-driven APIs and large language model workloads. - Familiarity with data integration platforms and master data management solutions and how they feed API-led connectivity strategies. - Bachelor's degree in a STEM field such as computer science, mathematics, or engineering.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-friendly position with on-target earnings in the range of $175,000 to $219,000 including commission, or a broader compensation range of approximately $201,000 to $251,000 USD depending on location and experience. - Annual performance bonus eligibility for non-commissioned components where applicable. - Organization describes a culture centered on bold thinking, authenticity, and inclusion, with employment decisions based on business needs, job requirements, and individual qualifications.
