General Software Engineer

Role overview Build and operate a lightweight product for quickly capturing notes and finding them later through exact or meaning-based search. You’ll take ideas from prototype through schema, API, interface, and production, with responsibility spanning reliability, sync, performance, and carefully permissioned integrations.

Responsibilities - Shape and deliver end-to-end features, from early prototype to launch. - Improve quick capture, search, synchronization, and optional assistant integrations while preserving user-controlled access. - Adapt storage, sync, search, and serving as product usage grows. - Keep capture and retrieval responsive as a core part of the user experience. - Maintain quality through tests, safe migrations, observability, and reliable operations.

Requirements - Strong fundamentals in at least one backend language and willingness to work with a lightweight frontend. - Product judgment: identify user needs, propose improvements, and prototype quickly. - Experience building and operating dependable software systems. - Care for data integrity, including migrations, backups, and edge cases. - Comfort working in a small team with short feedback cycles and broad ownership.

Nice to have Experience with retrieval systems, embeddings, MCP, SQLite internals, progressive web apps, or iOS.
