About this role
Role overview
A senior engineering leader is needed to direct the technical vision, architecture, delivery, and operational health of a network observability product platform. The platform provides enterprises, telecommunications providers, and government agencies with predictive visibility into network performance, behavior, and health across data center, campus, WAN, cloud, and edge environments. This highly cross-functional role partners with Product Management, Customer Care, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to align engineering execution with customer outcomes and business goals.
Responsibilities
- Define the multi-year technical roadmap for a network observability, NPM, or infrastructure monitoring product line spanning both SaaS and on-prem delivery models - Architect and scale a data-intensive platform that ingests and analyzes network telemetry such as NetFlow/IPFIX, sFlow, SNMP, packet capture, synthetic testing, and streaming telemetry - Drive delivery of AI, machine learning, and agentic capabilities for anomaly detection, root-cause analysis, and predictive insights that shorten mean-time-to-resolution - Build, mentor, and grow geographically distributed engineering organizations, including managing managers of managers, senior individual contributors, and offshore team transitions - Establish organization-wide software development standards and best practices while developing a pragmatic plan to retire technical debt in long-lived code bases - Engage directly with enterprise and government strategic accounts to gather technical requirements and resolve escalations - Partner with Product Management and executive leadership on strategic plans that connect engineering execution to technical and commercial objectives
Requirements
- MS or BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field - 15 or more years of experience in software engineering environments - 10 or more years managing senior individual contributors and other managers, including managers of managers - Direct background building network observability, network performance monitoring, or network and infrastructure management products - Strong technical fluency in networking fundamentals and telemetry, including TCP/IP, routing and switching, NetFlow/IPFIX, SNMP, packet analysis, and WAN/SD-WAN, plus open-source technologies such as ClickHouse, Prometheus/Grafana, and Kubernetes - Experience delivering high-performance hardware appliances for network telemetry or packet processing - Detailed technical knowledge of SaaS or PaaS engineering combined with on-prem enterprise software delivery - Development background in Java, C++, or similar object-oriented languages - Track record operating at or reporting directly to C-level executives - Experience working in a collaborative, agile development environment
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience developing services on AWS, Azure, GCP, or Oracle - Familiarity with high-throughput data pipelines and analytics such as streaming, time-series, and large-scale storage - Background in AIOps or machine learning for anomaly detection and predictive analytics applied to network or IT operations - Experience transitioning a product tech stack toward a more open-source, cloud-portable architecture - Knowledge of government and public sector requirements such as FedRAMP, StateRAMP, or ATO processes - Post-acquisition technology integration experience - Prior experience in a customer-facing technical role like sales engineering, professional services, support, or product management
Benefits and work setup
