Role overview
An engineering leadership role owning the infrastructure foundation that powers personalization experiences for hundreds of millions of end users across global e-commerce customers. The position combines people management with deep technical ownership of cloud, Kubernetes, databases, and observability platforms serving hundreds of internal application engineers.
Responsibilities
- Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing infrastructure engineering team and run performance and career development - Organize team rituals including standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives - Own strategy and execution for Google Cloud Platform services and cloud architecture - Operate and evolve the Kubernetes platform, including cluster strategy, upgrades, and policy enforcement - Ensure database reliability, performance, backup, restore, and disaster recovery - Build and maintain a unified observability stack covering logs, metrics, traces, alerting, and dashboards - Drive reliability and operational excellence through SLOs, SLIs, incident management, postmortems, and automation - Partner with security and compliance on access control, data protection, and auditability - Govern cloud cost through monitoring, tagging, allocation, and optimization initiatives
Requirements
- Proven experience leading and growing infrastructure or platform engineering teams - Deep hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform services, cloud architecture, and IAM guardrails - Strong Kubernetes platform operations experience including deployment patterns and CI/CD integration - Experience with production database operations, capacity planning, and migration strategies - Familiarity with observability tooling for metrics, logs, and traces - Ability to partner with product, application engineering, and security teams at scale
