Remote job
Quantum Error Correction Researcher
Job details
About this role
Role overview Research and develop quantum error-correction methods that help make fault-tolerant quantum computing practical. The work spans theoretical code design, simulation, and implementation planning, including integration of QEC protocols into a quantum software stack.
Responsibilities - Design and analyze error-correcting codes and decoder algorithms for fault-tolerant computation. - Simulate and improve decoding methods, including low-latency approaches for real-time control hardware. - Adapt software-level error correction to different hardware constraints and noise models. - Track research developments and use findings to inform technical choices. - Plan how QEC protocols can be integrated into compiler and middleware components, and develop research outputs into intellectual property. - At senior level, set research and software roadmaps, lead IP work, and manage researchers.
Requirements - Graduate-level training in computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent expertise. - Deep knowledge of quantum computing and quantum error correction, supported by a research record such as publications or conference presentations. - Ability to translate mathematical protocols into quantum circuit models and numerical simulations. - Clear written and verbal communication of technical work.
Nice to have - At least three years of programming experience, including Python. - Experience accounting for hardware constraints and noise in platforms such as neutral-atom or superconducting systems. - Experience writing performance- and memory-efficient software in C++ or Rust.
Benefits and work setup - Annualized salary range: ¥8M–¥20M; stock options and performance-based raises. - Remote-first, with hybrid work available; workplace is in Shibuya, Tokyo. - Permanent employment, standard weekday schedule, and paid leave from the seventh month.
