Quantum Computing Software Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build the software infrastructure that lets quantum algorithms run efficiently on quantum hardware. The work centers on compilers and transpilers that adapt circuits to device constraints, alongside middleware and SDKs that make quantum programs easier to develop and execute. You will translate research ideas into robust software and may also contribute to high-performance simulation and development practices.
Responsibilities - Implement quantum algorithms for deployment on hardware. - Develop compilers and transpilers that transform circuits for specific hardware architectures. - Create mapping and scheduling methods that account for hardware resources and constraints. - Build middleware and SDKs for executing algorithms and error-correction protocols. - Develop parallel and GPU-enabled backends for large-scale circuit simulation and decoding. - Integrate with open quantum software and internal systems; at senior level, shape architecture and improve quality through CI/CD and test automation.
Requirements - Master’s degree or higher in computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional expertise. - At least three years of programming experience with C++, Rust, or Python. - Experience developing software collaboratively with Git. - Strong grasp of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms, with a focus on maintainable code. - Background in quantum computing research or development. - Experience in compiler, FPGA, or low-level computing systems development.
Nice to have - HPC or parallel computing experience with tools such as OpenMP, CUDA, or MPI. - Contributions to quantum computing open source projects, or experience designing substantial libraries and APIs. - Experience building scalable compute services on cloud infrastructure.
Benefits and work setup - Permanent role with a remote-first arrangement and hybrid option, based in Tokyo. - Annualized salary range of ¥6 million to ¥20 million, stock options, and transportation coverage. - Health, pension, employment, and workers’ compensation insurance; paid annual leave begins from the seventh month. - Standard schedule is 9:00–18:00, with a 60-minute break; stated overtime is approximately 10–45 hours monthly.
