Job details
About this role
Role overview Develop and evaluate quantum algorithms for deployment on quantum hardware, connecting research to practical scientific and business problems. The role includes testing algorithms on simulators and real quantum processors, comparing results with classical methods, and contributing to proof-of-concept work and the software stack.
Responsibilities - Design and implement algorithms for quantum hardware, including applications in optimization and chemistry. - Benchmark algorithms on simulators and run demonstrations on real quantum processors. - Compare performance with high-performance computing and leading classical algorithms, assessing potential advantages. - Adapt algorithm primitives to the gate sets and physical constraints of target hardware. - Work with application teams and clients to translate real problems into quantum algorithm formulations. - Share research findings and contribute to intellectual property; at senior level, set research direction and manage the team.
Requirements - Graduate-level training in computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent expertise. - Strong research record in quantum computing or related areas, and a thorough grasp of major quantum algorithms and computational complexity. - Ability to communicate technical proposals to varied teams and clients. - At least three years of programming experience, including Python.
Nice to have - Postdoctoral, laboratory, or industry research experience in quantum algorithm design and applications. - Experience with fault-tolerant algorithms, quantum resource estimation, or accelerated quantum simulation using methods such as tensor networks or GPU computation. - Evidence of independently scoping ambiguous technical problems and carrying projects through to completion.
Benefits and work setup - Annualized salary range: ¥5M–¥15M; stock options and performance-based raises. - Remote-first, with hybrid work available; workplace is in Shibuya, Tokyo. - Permanent employment, standard weekday schedule, and paid leave from the seventh month.
