About this role
Role overview Build the card issuing platform behind several consumer financial brands on the Financial Platform Issuing team. The platform handles the full lifecycle of a card, from issuance and activation through real-time transaction authorization, digital wallet provisioning, 3-D Secure authentication, and disputes, settling each tap in milliseconds in partnership with card networks and bank partners. This is a server engineering role on tier-0 financial systems where reliability and correctness are non-negotiable.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, test, ship, and maintain features across card issuance, transaction processing, and disputes - Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate actively in design and code reviews - Build systems that fit within microservice and event-driven architectures with the reliability and correctness that moving money demands - Participate in operational ownership of tier-0 financial systems, including on-call, incident response, and postmortems - Apply AI-powered developer tools thoughtfully to improve velocity and quality throughout the development lifecycle - Hold teammates and yourself to high engineering standards - Support other engineers through code reviews and technical discussions
Requirements - 3+ years of software development experience or equivalent - Experience building and maintaining production software systems and delivering well-scoped projects or features end to end with guidance from senior engineers - Drive to find flaws in systems with many moving parts and take whatever steps are needed to fix them - Growth mindset and appetite for open-ended, ambiguous problems - Demonstrated AI fluency, including hands-on use of AI developer tools and the judgment to evaluate their outputs - Strong communication and collaboration skills - Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or equivalent experience
Nice to have - Familiarity with technologies such as Java or Kotlin, AWS, HTTP and JSON, gRPC and Protocol Buffers, Hibernate, Aurora, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Kafka, event-driven architecture, microservices, Datadog, Buildkite, and Gradle - Experience with AI agents and tooling such as Goose, Claude, or MCP

Current U.S. ranges span approximately $120,700 to $213,000 USD depending on zone, with specific bands by geographic area.
