Full Stack Developer - Python/Django/ReactJS

Role overview

Build and improve web applications, APIs, and services used to explore scientific information and visualize data. Working as part of an Agile product team, you will contribute across the frontend and backend, with attention to performance, accessibility, responsive design, and the needs of users and collaborators across product, research, security, and operations.

Responsibilities

- Develop performant, user-facing web applications using Python and Django. - Create features for user interaction and scientific data visualization using modern APIs and frameworks. - Deliver responsive, mobile-friendly interfaces with accessible, high-quality code. - Work with an Agile team to build and release product improvements. - Support automated testing, build, and deployment practices.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a scientific field, or equivalent experience. - At least 3 years of full-stack web development experience with Python, Django, and React. - Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. - Experience with relational database modeling and data migration. - Understanding of accessibility and security compliance. - Familiarity with Git, SVN, or another version control system, plus strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

- Experience building Django web applications and services, using REST APIs, and working with JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular. - Familiarity with search platforms such as Lucene or Solr, semantic markup, and modern web layout practices. - Automated regression testing experience with Selenium and familiarity with Agile development.

Benefits and work setup

The full-time position is described as onsite in Bethesda, Maryland, and/or remote. Listed benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, an employer-supported 401(k), paid holidays and vacation, and tuition reimbursement. The stated target salary range is $110,000–$140,000, depending on experience and location.
