About this role
Role overview Join a 3–6 month early-career accelerator program as a backend engineer on a Pay & Card team building crypto and fiat payment experiences for users and merchants worldwide. The role focuses on hands-on development of high-throughput, distributed payment services within a global blockchain ecosystem. You will work alongside experienced engineers, product managers, and QA to translate business needs into reliable, scalable technical solutions.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services that power digital-asset payment and card products. - Build scalable APIs and microservices for payment processing, transaction management, and merchant workflows. - Contribute to distributed systems handling high-volume, latency-sensitive transactions. - Implement robust transaction flows with proper handling for retries, idempotency, concurrency, and failure scenarios. - Assist in troubleshooting production issues using logs, metrics, tracing, and root-cause analysis. - Collaborate with product and engineering teams to convert requirements into technical designs, and participate in code reviews.
Requirements - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. - Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and core CS fundamentals. - Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Go, C++, or Python. - Understanding of relational databases, SQL, indexes, transactions, and basic database design. - Familiarity with RESTful APIs, HTTP, networking, and client-server architecture. - Solid grasp of operating systems, concurrency, and common backend engineering patterns.
Nice to have - Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, or other message-queue technologies. - Understanding of distributed-system concepts including consistency, replication, caching, async processing, and fault tolerance. - Familiarity with payment lifecycle concepts such as authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, reconciliation, and chargebacks. - Prior backend internship, hackathon, open-source, or personal project experience. - Interest in cryptocurrency, blockchain, fintech, or payment infrastructure.
