Forward Deployed Engineer

Role overview Join application teams temporarily as a hands-on engineering partner, helping modernize enterprise software and adopt AI-assisted development practices. The role combines full-stack delivery with cloud architecture, technical coaching, and change management; it also carries practical feedback from embedded teams back to a central modernization function.

Responsibilities - Guide application teams through modernization, including re-platforming and migration toward cloud-native architectures. - Contribute code and establish architectural foundations, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines; resolve difficult integration blockers. - Help teams incorporate AI-assisted coding tools into daily development, including the adoption and change management needed to make new practices stick. - Quickly understand team workflows and technical constraints, identify bottlenecks, and recommend and implement improvements. - Coach teams on engineering standards, secure delivery practices, and software quality. - Report tool and process issues from the field to the central architecture group so its methods can improve.

Requirements - At least five years of software engineering experience, including enterprise applications and modernization work. - Full-stack experience spanning frontend, backend, databases, and infrastructure, with strong skills in a modern language such as Python, TypeScript, C#, or Java. - Practical experience deploying scalable applications on AWS and managing infrastructure with Terraform. - Hands-on ability to create or improve CI/CD pipelines, such as with GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, and apply DevSecOps practices. - Knowledge of microservices, serverless or event-driven systems, and Domain-Driven Design. - Strong communication, listening, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence teams and guide technical change without formal authority.

Nice to have - Professional experience with AI coding assistants such as Cursor or Claude Code. - Familiarity with React, Next.js, Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS Lambda.
