Job details
About this role
Role overview Set technical direction for a product area where multiple engineering teams use AI agents to build and maintain production software. The role combines architecture and hands-on engineering judgment with standards for specifying work, delegating it safely, checking results, and improving shared practices.
Responsibilities - Define reusable approaches for deciding which work suits agent execution and how teams should specify it. - Establish review and verification practices that account for risk, security, and potential impact. - Set agent security boundaries, including data flows, access controls, and threat models, in partnership with security specialists. - Prepare product areas for safe agent use by defining needed context, guardrails, and observability; build supporting prompts, instructions, test harnesses, and playbooks. - Coordinate people and agents across teams on large efforts, resolve high-impact technical decisions, and advise product leaders on roadmap choices. - Mentor engineers across teams and turn lessons learned into shared standards and processes.
Requirements - At least 8 years of software engineering experience, including shipping customer-facing production software and owning technical direction across a product area. - Experience creating agent patterns or AI-powered solutions adopted by multiple teams. - Strong systems, data modeling, and architecture skills, including performance and data-flow tradeoffs. - Ability to define clear specifications and review gates, and to structure repository and task context so agents can work reliably. - Experience operating production software with observability, metrics, tracing, and incident response. - Proven cross-team mentoring, technical leadership, and communication skills, including explaining strategy and tradeoffs to leaders.
Benefits and work setup - Remote work is available in the specified state; the source does not identify the state. - Benefits listed include health, life, and disability insurance; four weeks of vacation; company holidays; parental and volunteer leave; a retirement plan with employer matching; a paid vacation bonus; and an employee assistance program. - Employment is contingent on passing background and credit checks.
