Role overview A senior engineering leadership role owning engineering across a full employee-journey portfolio, from hiring and onboarding through performance, compensation, benefits, learning, and recognition. The position turns that portfolio into a coherent, AI-native experience while setting the technical bar for security, reliability, and product quality.
Responsibilities - Own engineering outcomes for the employee journey across multiple teams, identifying the highest-leverage problems and driving them to resolution - Align Product, Technology, Customer Experience, and go-to-market leaders around a unified employee-journey strategy, communicating tradeoffs and risks clearly - Lead AI-native product development across the portfolio, translating customer problems into applied-AI experiences with measurable value - Transform how engineering teams build by establishing agentic practices that improve speed, quality, and learning - Turn strategy into execution through operating mechanisms, risk surfacing, cross-team dependency resolution, and follow-through on outcomes - Build and develop a results-oriented leadership team of engineering managers and senior technical leaders with succession depth - Set technical standards for architecture, quality, reliability, security, privacy, and overall technical health - Make the tradeoffs required to modernize the platform while continuing to ship reliably
Requirements - 15+ years of software development and engineering leadership experience - 5+ years in a Director-level or comparable leader-of-leaders role across multiple SaaS product teams - Demonstrated ability to identify ambiguous, high-importance problems and deliver measurable outcomes across organizational boundaries - Strong product and business judgment, including the ability to work backward from customer outcomes and decide what not to pursue - Fluency using AI in leadership work, with experience guiding engineering teams through an agentic transformation - Experience leading AI-native products from problem selection through production - Strong execution discipline, including setting priorities, owners, metrics, and operating mechanisms - Track record developing engineering managers and senior technical leaders while building leadership depth - Architectural depth and experience modernizing secure, reliable SaaS systems at scale - Strong cross-functional and executive communication skills - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Nice to have - Experience in HR technology or adjacent employee-experience domains, especially benefits administration or payroll - Experience unifying fragmented product areas into a coherent customer journey - Experience building SaaS products for small and medium-sized businesses
