About this role
Role overview Lead a team of software and platform engineers responsible for a secure access application spanning primarily on-premises infrastructure and one cloud component. The position blends hands-on technical leadership with people management: set direction, coordinate delivery, mentor across engineering disciplines, and maintain dependable service for existing customers while advancing new features.
Responsibilities - Lead the application and its integrations across on-premises and cloud environments throughout the product lifecycle. - Set technical direction, prioritize work, and break product goals into manageable engineering tasks. - Coordinate feature delivery while protecting reliability and service quality for current users. - Manage and mentor software and platform engineers across application and infrastructure work. - Communicate plans, tradeoffs, and progress clearly to nontechnical stakeholders.
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. - At least three years of direct engineering management experience and five years of hands-on platform, infrastructure, or software engineering experience. - Experience administering virtualized on-premises environments, especially VMware vSphere or ESXi. - Experience with virtual desktop infrastructure or remote access systems. - Experience deploying and operating workloads on a major cloud platform; Google Cloud is preferred. - Working knowledge of Linux administration, containers, and CI/CD pipelines, with the ability to plan and communicate engineering work.
Nice to have - Networking experience with VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing, or DNS. - Experience extending or migrating on-premises workloads to Google Cloud, or using Terraform and Ansible. - Familiarity with regulated or security-sensitive environments such as FedRAMP, CMMC, or SOC 2, and identity protocols such as SSO, OIDC, or SAML.
Benefits and work setup - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, with the employer covering 85–100% of monthly premiums for employees and family. - Traditional and Roth 401(k) options with an employer match, flexible leave, and 12 paid federal holidays. - Tuition reimbursement for continuing education. - The listed annual salary range is $140,000–$170,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
