Role overview A remote Site Reliability Engineer position based anywhere in Australia, contributing to the reliability and scalability of cloud-native services that support mission-critical public safety operations. The role blends hands-on engineering with operational excellence, helping product teams continuously ship features on a modern cloud platform.
Responsibilities - Build and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure cloud platforms, tools, and supporting infrastructure. - Apply SRE principles to improve the stability and performance of distributed services. - Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code alongside troubleshooting and debugging distributed cloud-native systems. - Collaborate with product engineering teams to support service reliability and operational excellence across the stack. - Create and maintain documentation that improves self-service capabilities for engineers. - Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, building skills through hands-on practice and team knowledge sharing.
Requirements - 2–5 years of relevant experience in software engineering, SRE, or infrastructure roles. - Solid understanding of operating systems, preferably Linux. - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or equivalent. - Experience with Kubernetes platforms such as AKS, EKS, or comparable offerings. - Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, C#, Java, or similar. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automation practices, and observability tooling across logging, metrics, and APM. - Exposure to Infrastructure as Code concepts such as Terraform or ARM templates. - Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, and effective communication and collaboration abilities. - Australian citizenship and ability to obtain (or current) Australian government security clearance.
