Remote job
UX Product Owner (UXPO)
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Connect user research, UX design, product decisions, and software delivery through a continuous discovery-to-release process. This role combines product ownership with hands-on design: you will carry user context into the backlog, prototype and test ideas quickly, and work directly with engineers to preserve product intent through implementation.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct user research, synthesize findings, and turn them into prioritized backlog items. - Maintain product context from discovery through deployment, revisiting assumptions as work progresses. - Create and refine systems-level design materials such as user journeys, object models, and pattern libraries. - Write clear acceptance criteria and collaborate with engineers throughout sprint delivery. - Build and test coded or high-fidelity prototypes, using AI-assisted tools where they help shorten the concept-to-test cycle. - Maintain and prioritize the backlog against user needs, business goals, and delivery constraints; establish a regular discovery cadence. - Decide where AI can speed up the work and where human judgment should guide decisions.
Requirements
- Deep, demonstrated experience in both UX design and product ownership. - Ability to design, conduct, and synthesize research, then act on the results directly. - Strong systems thinking, including journey mapping, object modeling, and design system architecture. - Experience with agile delivery, backlog management, sprint ceremonies, and close work with engineering teams. - Hands-on use of AI-assisted design or prototyping tools. - Skill in writing precise acceptance criteria and maintaining product coherence through iterative delivery. - Clear communication, stakeholder alignment, user advocacy, and transparent prioritization judgment.
Benefits and work setup
- This is a newly defined role with room to shape how UX product ownership is practiced. - The position offers direct responsibility for outcomes in an AI-assisted product development environment, within a collaborative team.
