AWS Consultant

Role overview

A remote, full-time consulting role focused on helping small and mid-sized businesses design, deploy, and optimize AWS environments that support their automation and business goals. The consultant partners directly with clients to translate infrastructure needs into secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud architectures, then implements everything from core compute and networking to serverless and AI/ML services. The position is well suited for an AWS specialist who enjoys client-facing work and wants smaller organizations to benefit from enterprise-grade cloud capabilities.

Responsibilities

- Assess client infrastructure requirements and design AWS solutions aligned with stated business goals. - Architect cloud environments spanning compute, storage, networking, databases, and serverless components. - Design for security, high availability, scalability, and cost optimization across every layer of the stack. - Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and migration plans for client projects. - Deploy and configure AWS services, including serverless patterns built on Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and EventBridge. - Configure data services such as RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, and S3, and integrate AWS AI/ML offerings like Bedrock, SageMaker, Textract, and Comprehend where appropriate. - Implement AWS security best practices covering IAM, VPC design, encryption, and access controls. - Set up monitoring, logging, and threat detection with CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and GuardDuty. - Build infrastructure-as-code using CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform to standardize deployments.

Requirements

- Deep, hands-on expertise with core AWS services across compute, storage, networking, databases, and serverless. - Practical experience designing architectures that balance scalability, resilience, and cost. - Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform. - Working knowledge of AWS security services and well-architected best practices for IAM, networking, and encryption. - Comfort working directly with clients to gather requirements, explain trade-offs, and deliver outcomes. - Ability to produce clear technical documentation, diagrams, and migration plans.
