Role overview A senior database architect role focused on designing, optimizing, and migrating database solutions for modern cloud-based applications. The position combines hands-on database engineering with architectural leadership across both SQL and NoSQL environments. The work supports enterprise architecture, API-centric applications, and cloud transformation efforts in a fully remote setting.
Responsibilities - Architect and design database solutions that meet the demands of modern applications and data processing - Lead database migration projects, ensuring seamless transitions between database systems - Continuously monitor and optimize performance across both SQL and NoSQL environments - Implement database security measures and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations - Refactor stored procedures, scripts, and data models for cross-compatibility and performance - Mentor team members on best practices and provide expertise on SQL and NoSQL trade-offs
Requirements - 7+ years of experience in database engineering - Extensive proficiency with both SQL Server and PostgreSQL - In-depth knowledge of normalization, indexing, stored procedures, and query optimization - Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud - Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker - Proven experience leading large-scale database migrations, transitions, and refactoring projects - Strong communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to have - Hands-on experience with DynamoDB or MongoDB - Full-stack development exposure with emphasis on backend database interactions - Background working in an Agile environment
