Job details
About this role
Role overview
Build and operate backend data systems that maintain user profiles and make those profiles useful across product features. As a senior engineer on a data platform team, you’ll own substantial projects from design through production and work with engineering, product, data, and machine learning partners. The platform processes large volumes of user and event information to support personalization, segmentation, analytics, attribution, and ML capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve backend services for ingesting, processing, storing, and serving profile data and user attributes. - Lead complex projects from translating product needs into technical designs through implementation, deployment, and operational support. - Develop APIs, streaming pipelines, and platform capabilities that enable other teams to use profile data safely and efficiently. - Improve system scale, reliability, performance, observability, and data quality. - Partner with product, data, and machine learning teams to deliver capabilities for personalization, segmentation, behavioral analytics, revenue attribution, and machine learning. - Contribute to architecture and engineering standards through design reviews, hands-on work, and mentoring.
Requirements
- At least six years of professional software engineering experience, including designing and operating backend or distributed systems at scale. - Strong background in data ingestion, processing, or streaming systems that handle large volumes of user, event, or similarly high-cardinality data. - Proficiency in Java or a comparable backend language, with solid software design and distributed systems fundamentals. - Demonstrated ownership of complex engineering work from design and implementation through production operation. - Good technical judgment across scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability tradeoffs. - Clear communication and experience collaborating across teams, mentoring engineers, and contributing to technical decisions.
Benefits and work setup
- The role includes equity and benefits. For applicants based in the United States, the stated base salary range is $170,000–$205,000 per year, with compensation depending on role level and location.
