Founding Forward Deployed Engineer

Role overview This founding forward-deployed engineering role owns the technical path from customer discovery through secure production deployment of an agentic AI security platform. The position is responsible for the "last mile" of integration, ensuring customers can connect the product to real agents, identity systems, tools, and audit destinations without creating permanent custom forks. It blends hands-on engineering, customer-facing technical work, and product feedback loops.

Responsibilities - Integrate the platform through SDK, API, proxy, and MCP paths across varied customer environments. - Build and adapt agent harnesses covering model calls, context, state, tool execution, policy hooks, approvals, retries, timeouts, and telemetry. - Translate customer goals into explicit security, privacy, reliability, performance, scale, and cost constraints. - Package and validate connected, customer-managed, and disconnected deployment topologies. - Develop deployment automation, diagnostics, runbooks, upgrade procedures, and rollback paths. - Own proof-of-concept outcomes end to end, including success criteria, implementation, red teaming, acceptance tests, launch, and measured adoption. - Convert repeated integration patterns into supported product interfaces and reusable playbooks.

Requirements - Strong backend and systems engineering background with experience shipping customer-facing production deployments. - Demonstrated ability to carry a difficult integration from discovery into reliable production use. - Solid judgment around security tradeoffs, system design, and operational reliability. - Comfort working across infrastructure, application code, and customer-facing communication. - Willingness to travel periodically for team offsites, industry events, and customer engagements in New York City, Washington D.C., the San Francisco Bay Area, and other customer locations.

Nice to have - Background in security, identity, audit pipelines, or agentic AI systems. - Experience with red teaming, policy enforcement, or telemetry instrumentation. - Comfort moving between AI-enabled and AI-free engineering workflows.
