QA Specialist

Role overview

Validate data and business processes during core banking conversions for banks and credit unions. You will work on one institution’s conversion at a time, combining SQL-based reconciliation with functional, integration, and regression testing to help determine whether converted systems are ready for launch.

Responsibilities

- Own test plans across data validation, functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance work, aligned with mock conversion schedules. - Reconcile records, balances, accrued interest, rates, maturity dates, holds, and transaction history between legacy and target systems. - Trace discrepancies to the relevant data mapping and document evidence clearly. - Test deposit and loan processing, end-of-day runs, fees, payments, statements, card activity, and general ledger postings. - Check integrations such as digital banking, bill pay, card processing, ATM networks, loan origination, and CRM; log defects, coordinate triage, and retest fixes. - Support go-live readiness recommendations and planned conversion weekend or day-one activities.

Requirements

- Four or more years in software QA or systems testing, including ownership of test plans and test cases. - Hands-on data migration or integration testing, with the ability to verify transfers between systems and investigate transformation issues. - Strong SQL skills for joins, aggregates, reconciliation, and root-causing mismatched totals or record counts. - Track record of writing reproducible, well-prioritized defects and rigorously retesting corrections. - Ability to explain technical issues to developers, vendor analysts, and operations staff. - Professional English at B2 level or higher, and experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or a comparable defect tracking tool. - Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

- Financial institution core conversion experience, knowledge of banking operations, payments, or general ledger reconciliation, or familiarity with core banking platforms. - ISTQB or CSTE certification; test management tools such as Zephyr, Xray, qTest, TestRail, or Azure Test Plans. - Regression automation, API testing, Python-based reconciliation, or advanced Excel skills.

Benefits and work setup

- Full-time remote role for professionals based in Colombia or elsewhere in Latin America, with full-day overlap during U.S. Eastern or Central business hours. - Work intensity varies with conversion milestones; post-mock validation periods can be especially busy. Some planned work occurs outside normal hours during conversion weekends and launch days. - Applicants must already be authorized to work in their country of residence; visa sponsorship is not available.
