Linux Software Developer

Role overview A hands-on software engineering role focused on building secure Linux-based applications and network services for a federal defense research environment. The position centers on systems-level programming in Rust (or C/C++ with a transition path to Rust), contributing to innovative solutions for mission-critical defense applications.

Responsibilities - Design, implement, and maintain robust, high-performance Linux software applications - Develop and debug TCP/UDP socket-based network services using client/server architectures - Use Git-based workflows for collaborative code development and version control - Partner with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate software into broader technology stacks - Tune applications for performance, scalability, and reliability under operational demands - Track emerging trends in Linux and Rust development to inform engineering decisions

Requirements - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline - 5+ years of professional experience (BS 5–7, MS 3–5, PhD 0–2) - Demonstrated Linux software development experience - Proficiency in Rust, or strong C/C++ background with willingness to learn Rust - Hands-on TCP/UDP socket programming expertise - Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills - Active DOD SECRET clearance with ability to obtain TS

Nice to have - Passion for systems-level programming and Rust adoption - Familiarity with asynchronous programming and concurrency models - Solid grasp of OS concepts: memory management, threading, and IPC
