Founding Engineer - Software

Role overview Build software that coordinates computational engineering tools into a unified platform for designing data centers and other large industrial projects. Working closely with domain engineers and customers, you’ll develop systems that translate physical constraints and project requirements into coordinated models, calculations, and construction documentation.

Responsibilities - Develop the platform that connects civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural design workflows. - Build parametric models, computational geometry systems, dependency graphs, and automated engineering processes. - Create AI agents that work across engineering documents, drawings, calculations, specifications, and design constraints. - Turn project requirements into coordinated 3D models, engineering calculations, and construction documents. - Build reliable interfaces and infrastructure that make complex engineering work accessible, auditable, and repeatable. - Ship production software continuously in collaboration with engineers and customers.

Requirements - Strong software engineering ability, demonstrated by building and shipping complete products. - Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, software architecture, and reliability in complex systems. - Ability to work across the stack, including backend services, computational systems, and user-facing products. - High proficiency with AI coding agents and the ability to use them effectively in product development. - Curiosity about engineering fundamentals, physical constraints, and the built environment. - Ownership and initiative in shaping solutions without relying on fully detailed specifications.

Nice to have - Experience with computational geometry, CAD/BIM, simulation, physics engines, developer tools, or other complex technical software. A formal engineering background, construction experience, or a particular degree is not required.

Benefits and work setup - Full-time remote role for candidates in the US or Canada, excluding Quebec. - Compensation listed as US$200,000–$300,000 or CA$285,000–$430,000 base, plus founding-team equity. - Health plans include full dependent coverage. - Hiring considers evidence of building and shipping work across experience levels.
