Principal ML Platform Engineer

Role overview Serve as a principal engineer shaping the architecture and direction of an enterprise AI-powered process automation platform. The role combines deep hands-on engineering with cross-team technical leadership, driving modernization, reliability, and AI-assisted development across a complex, multi-tier codebase.

Responsibilities - Architect, build, and optimize high-performance software systems while maintaining a strong personal technical presence on the team. - Lead strategic modernization and large-scale code refactoring to keep the core platform cutting-edge and performant. - Use AI coding tools fluently to generate, review, and critically evaluate AI-assisted code without compromising correctness. - Drive technical story breakdowns, acceptance criteria, and architectural design across complex, multi-tier application layers. - Manage availability, latency, scalability, and efficiency by engineering deep reliability into core systems and performing advanced tuning. - Radiate engineering excellence through meticulous code review, automation frameworks, and shared best practices. - Coach and mentor engineers at multiple levels, identify skill gaps, and accelerate the technical growth of those around you. - Publish expert domain knowledge to engineering's permanent documentation site and act as a recognized internal authority.

Requirements - Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related technical or analytical discipline; equivalent experience is not accepted in lieu of a degree. - 10+ years of relevant software development experience with a BS, or 8+ years paired with a Master of Science in Computer Science or a related field. - Expert coding, scripting, and debugging proficiency in one or more of Java, Python, or Go. - Deep working knowledge of distributed systems and cloud infrastructure at a senior individual contributor level. - Demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions and shape engineering practices beyond a single team. - Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and evaluating or coaching others on AI-generated code in production. - Proven experience developing, optimizing, and maintaining high-volume, mission-critical production services. - Exceptional ability to communicate highly technical architectures verbally, visually, and in writing.

Nice to have - Background influencing platform-wide technical direction across multiple teams or product areas. - Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow.
