Java Tech Lead

Role overview This hands-on Tech Lead role guides a mature engineering team working on a large, cloud-based SaaS platform. The work spans backend-heavy Java and Spring development on AWS while also extending to a TypeScript-based frontend, with a forward-looking focus on AI-driven product features and AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Responsibilities - Lead technical discussions, make architectural decisions, and guide the team through AI-driven product initiatives - Design, implement, and optimize scalable backend services using Java, Spring, and AWS - Take ownership of frontend features using TypeScript and Angular or React to support end-to-end delivery - Drive the technical implementation of AI features, including chatbot capabilities, data quality improvements, and dynamic reporting - Promote and apply modern AI developer tools to streamline coding, refactoring, and architecture work - Partner with product, UX/UI designers, and DevOps to ship high-quality releases, with disciplined unit, integration, and end-to-end testing

Requirements - Proven experience as a Tech Lead, including setting technical direction and mentoring engineers - Strong, current expertise in Java, Spring, and AWS-based cloud architectures for multi-tenant SaaS - Working capability with TypeScript and Angular or React for fullstack feature delivery - Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and integrating them into daily engineering workflows - Focus on code quality, testing practices, performance profiling, and long-term maintainability - Excellent communication, coaching, and collaboration skills for remote or hybrid environments
