Role overview This is a remote, part-time consulting opportunity for mid-level Python engineers based in or near Peru who want flexible, project-based work alongside other commitments. Contributors are engaged on individually scoped software engineering assignments for an AI research lab, working on real-world codebases rather than long-term product roadmaps. Responsibilities - Diagnose and resolve defects across large, multi-file codebases, including edge cases and ambiguous failure modes - Build new backend or full-stack features against defined technical specifications - Refactor and migrate existing production systems while preserving behavior - Expand and maintain unit and integration test suites using modern testing frameworks - Produce clear reference implementations and accompanying technical documentation - Perform structured code reviews, surfacing correctness, quality, and design feedback - Validate alignment between requirements, code, tests, and expected outputs before delivery
Requirements - 2–7 years of professional software engineering experience - Strong proficiency in Python - Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript in production settings - Familiarity with at least one additional language such as Java, C#, or Go - Hands-on experience with backend or full-stack production systems - Practical use of testing frameworks such as pytest, Jest, JUnit, xUnit, or Go's standard testing library - Advanced written English and strong attention to detail
