Python Developer (Mexico)

Role overview Remote, part-time consulting role for experienced Python engineers based in or near Mexico, structured as a series of scoped project engagements with an AI research lab. Each project involves real-world codebases and includes tasks such as debugging, feature development, refactoring, migrations, testing, and technical review. The setup is designed for engineers who want meaningful, varied work without a full-time commitment.

Responsibilities - Debug and resolve issues across complex, multi-file production codebases - Implement new backend or full-stack features against defined requirements - Refactor and migrate production systems to improve maintainability or performance - Build and extend unit and integration test suites using established testing frameworks - Write clear technical specifications and reference implementations - Review code and technical submissions for correctness, clarity, and quality - Identify edge cases, ambiguities, and potential failure modes before delivery

Requirements - 2–7 years of professional software engineering experience - Strong proficiency in Python - Professional experience with JavaScript or TypeScript in production - Working knowledge of at least one additional language such as Java, C#, or Go - Backend or full-stack experience with production systems - Familiarity with testing frameworks such as pytest, Jest, JUnit, xUnit, or Go testing - Advanced written English and solid attention to detail
