Role overview
This zero-knowledge engineering role is centered on enabling people to prove a claim or satisfy a condition without exposing the underlying personal information. The work spans circuit design, client-side proof generation, and verification in a service endpoint or on-chain environment. Success depends not only on producing valid proofs, but also on accurately describing what they establish, what information remains observable, and which inputs require an external trust anchor.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement zero-knowledge circuits using Circom, Noir, or another suitable proving environment. - Generate proofs on the client side while considering usability, performance, and the sensitivity of the inputs involved. - Implement verification paths in backend service routes and, where appropriate, smart contracts. - Define precisely what each statement proves, including the limits of the claim and the assumptions behind its inputs. - Evaluate information leakage such as timing signals, visible thresholds, proof repetition, and linkability between multiple submissions. - Identify where trusted signatures, attestations, or other authenticated inputs are required so that proofs do not validate unverified data.
Requirements
- Practical experience building zero-knowledge circuits and integrating proof generation or verification into applications. - Strong applied-cryptography fundamentals and the ability to reason about soundness, completeness, privacy, and trust assumptions. - Ability to assess metadata and side-channel leakage rather than treating a successful proof as complete privacy protection. - Experience working across client, backend, and/or blockchain verification environments. - Careful, explicit communication about what a proof does and does not guarantee. - A rigorous approach to threat modeling and privacy-preserving system design.
Nice to have
- Experience with Circom or Noir. - Familiarity with client-side proving, service-based verification, or on-chain verifier contracts. - Background in privacy engineering, applied cryptography, identity, or authenticated data systems.
