Learning Experience Designer

Role overview This full-time position focuses on designing learner-centred educational experiences for technology skills programmes serving learners across Africa. The designer collaborates with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to translate industry expertise into structured curricula, lessons, projects, and assessments. The work blends instructional design, content creation, and experimentation with new formats, including AI-enabled and interactive media tools.

Responsibilities - Design engaging lessons, projects, assessments, and activities using sound instructional design principles and accessibility standards. - Partner with subject matter experts to translate technical expertise into well-organised learning content for online, blended, and experiential formats. - Apply design frameworks and templates, run quality assurance checks on learning management system content, and prepare deployment materials. - Curate and adapt external materials, document learning assets for reuse, and maintain version control across programmes. - Collect, clean, and organise learner feedback and analytics, and feed insights into iterative design cycles. - Explore new authoring tools, AI-assisted workflows, interactive media, and minor HTML or CSS edits under senior designer guidance.

Requirements - Proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or a closely related field. - Practical exposure to online, blended, or technology-enabled learning environments. - Strong grasp of instructional design models and adult learning principles. - Proficiency with instructional design tools and digital learning platforms, with analytical skill for evaluating learning effectiveness. - Excellent collaboration, communication, creative problem-solving, and attention to detail. - Learner-first orientation, curiosity about new methods, adaptability, and motivation to deliver impact at scale.

Nice to have - Exposure to user-centred design, education technology, or creative storytelling. - Comfort working in small in-person teams while collaborating virtually with colleagues across multiple countries.
