About this role
Role overview Own and evolve the cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes platform that supports hundreds of services and a globally distributed engineering organization. This hands-on staff engineering role spans architecture, software development, and production operations, while setting a technical roadmap that supports growth and makes complex infrastructure easier for teams to use.
Responsibilities - Operate and improve cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure, including its security, reliability, cost efficiency, and performance. - Set standards and lead efforts to reduce duplication across the platform. - Partner with product teams so they can build and operate their own services, and coordinate with reliability and developer experience teams on a coherent platform. - Develop self-service capabilities and AI-enabled tools that reduce the effort of infrastructure operations. - Support mission-critical systems for a distributed engineering organization and automate operational work. - Design and implement maintainable infrastructure solutions and contribute to ambitious technical roadmaps.
Requirements - Deep experience with Kubernetes, containers, and AWS, including production SaaS systems operating at scale. - Strong understanding of networking and production use of service meshes and gateways. - Operational troubleshooting experience across Kubernetes, databases, messaging, and storage systems. - Proficiency in Python and Go, ideally applied to infrastructure tooling, Kubernetes operators, or control-plane components. - Ability to lead technical initiatives, influence stakeholders, and deliver architectural plans. - Interest in high-performance CI/CD and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
Nice to have - Experience managing large Kubernetes fleets and their lifecycle, including tools such as CAPI or Rancher. - Production experience with Vault or a similar secrets-management system. - Familiarity with GCP or Azure.
